B.C.I. and Trustees

Once again we have the spectre of the Grand Erie School Board Trustees (not sure this is an appropriate title as they can hardly be trusted) changing their mind on the rebuilding of the Brantford Collegiate Institute.

It has been obvious from the start that the trustees and the board administration didn't want to keep this school at it's present site. Driven by their illusions of grandeur and their jealousy of the Separate School Board and its new high school in the prime location of west Brantford, they have constantly fought to have the new B.C.I. built over there as well. They have thrown up every obstacle that they could think of to affect this end. And now that they are safely re-elected for another four year term, it's full speed ahead with their hidden agenda and to hell with the good of the students and the poor old beleaguered taxpayer. Maybe the taxpayer should be able to change their mind as well and have a new election for these positions.

And if you don't believe that this has been a long term plan especially by the empire building administration that is afraid of the separate school system getting a few more students and thus more money just look at the sad state of repair of the present B.C.I.. Many public buildings (and of course private ones too) including several public schools in the Grand Erie system are in excellent shape even though they are even older than B.C.I.. It is almost criminal that B.C.I. has been allowed to deteriorate to this point but that is the Brantford way. If you want to tear down a building but will face opposition just let it go so that it reaches the point that it cannot be repaired . This is what was allowed to happen to B.C.I. and really the trustees and administrators should be facing criminal charges for dereliction of their fudiciary duty to the tax payers of Brantford.

If the City Council is serious about the downtown area and listening to the citizens of Brantford they will refuse to co-operate in this scheme by the board and refuse to make immediately available the necessary land for this project in west Brantford. We shall see.
