A Development Freeze
So now the Ontario Government is proposing to stop native protests by imposing a two year freeze on all new development in Brantford and area. Just when things are finally starting to look up after may years of stagnation this would be another blow that would take may more years to recover from. (The protests themselves are doing a pretty good job of hurting the town already). Maybe the gutless wonder who heads the Ontario Government should dare to actually visit the area and see what is happening first hand. But I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for this to happen. And if this freeze does go through Dave Levac better start preparing this resume now because he will need it come the next election. But then he will probably be rewarded with some cushy appointment anyway.

I realize this is old news but...how exactly does a freeze affect the MPP? When does the MP stand accountable to these issues when the Federal Level of goernment is the Queens voice. Where is McColeman and his side on the Six Nations protest issue? From what I understand, Native peoples do not even accept the Provincial level of Government as a political entity.
Waiting on your reply.

The freeze was a Provincial idea. The Province is responsible for the issuing of deeds for land in Ontario, municipalities and development. I felt that this development freeze was an extremely bad idea that would severely hurt the City of Brantford and the backlash from this would likely hurt Mr. Levac's chances of re-election if he so chooses to run again.
At the time I wrote this, Mr. McColeman was not the MP for this area, Liberal Lloyd St. Amand was. He lost the subsequent election to Mr. McColeman maybe in part to how these land claims have been handled.
Thank you for the clarification G-O-M.
