The For Better or For Worse Comic

There was a time when comics were actually funny. In fact, many still are. "For Better or For Worse" isn't one of them. Its seems lately we have just been getting the "for worse". Lynn Johnson who draws the strip has followed up the death of Farley the dog several years ago with the grandfather recently suffering a stroke and then just before Christmas she had the son and his family's house burn down and him rushing back inside to save his book and nearly dieing. (Actually most people who do go back into burning buildings do die). How hilarious. Maybe Lynn is getting story advice from Leslie Lee.

Ellie, the mother in the comic strip, who is modelled somewhat on Lynn herself has recently retired from her store. Maybe Ms. Johnson should follow suit and also retire.

The Expositor in LEFT Field Again

I see the Brantford Expsitor is once again out in LEFT field. They are now blaming the Federal Conservative government for the long wait times at the Brantford General Hospital over the holidays. It seems that the government that has been in office less than a year has failed to ensure shorter wait times for all procedures even though Prime Minister Harper said that he would work with the provinces to come up with a strategy to lessen wait times.

Funny that when the then Liberal government cut funding to the provinces for health care and Mike Harris had to close hospitals, it was all the provincial government's fault but now that there is a provincial Liberal government in power for over three years it is now the Federal government that is to blame for all hospital problems. Thirteen years of Federal Liberal rule just wasn't enough to get us better health care. And wasn't it Ontario Premier McGuinty who inposed a health tax, after promising not to raise taxes, so that the health care system would be improved and he also promised to cut wait times? But, of course, the Expositor is like the three monkeys when it comes to any Liberal. They see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil about them. But the Conservatives, now that's a different story.

And the ever faithful Expositor has predicted both a Federal and Provincial election this year with the Liberals winning both. Heaven help us!!
