A Development Freeze

So now the Ontario Government is proposing to stop native protests by imposing a two year freeze on all new development in Brantford and area. Just when things are finally starting to look up after may years of stagnation this would be another blow that would take may more years to recover from. (The protests themselves are doing a pretty good job of hurting the town already). Maybe the gutless wonder who heads the Ontario Government should dare to actually visit the area and see what is happening first hand. But I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for this to happen. And if this freeze does go through Dave Levac better start preparing this resume now because he will need it come the next election. But then he will probably be rewarded with some cushy appointment anyway.

Earth Day in Brantford

Hats off to those who celebrated Eath Day last week by doing something positive (planting trees, picking up trash, etc.). In my neighbourhood one person celebrated by cutting down a large tree while another had their usual campfire. If those who run Brantford were serious about the environment, they would put a real tree bylaw in place and enforce the current one about no open burning in the city. One can only wish.
