Lately it seems about weekly that there is a minor unexplained power outage in Brantford. Often these outages are only for a few seconds but their effects are still a major inconvenience. If you are working at your computer at the time, unsaved work is lost along with markers on websites that show what articles or threads on discussion boards have been read. It can be very time consuming to start over again and redo work or try to search for the starting points on these web sites. Also electronic clocks, VCRs, security lights, etc. must be reset. If it happens in the night your alarm might not go off on time causing you to be late for work.
With the ever increasing cost of electricity (just wait till smart meters arrive in Brantford) and added delivery charges I don't think it is expecting too much to have a continuous supply unless there is some unusual occurrence that causes this failure. If these are somehow scheduled outages, the public should be notified in advance so that precautions can be taken. Otherwise, I think an explanation is due as to why we cannot expect to have a reliable constant supply of electricity in Brantford. After all this is 2008 not 1908.
