Apparently there is a policy in place in Brantford that to place a poster on posts around Brantford one must first obtain a permit and then pay a fee of $10 for each poster posted or the city will have them ripped down. I must admit that some corners were overcrowded with posters advertising long over garage sales but this solution seems a bit harsh especially for those looking for the return of a cherished pet. When a pet has become lost it helps if you cover a wide range to make sure that the person who has found it sees the poster. And this can require a large number of posters which would add up to several hundreds of dollars in fees to the city.
